We ran 20 prompts across both — LinkedIn posts, cold emails, short fiction, technical documentation, marketing copy, translations. Same prompts, same temperature, same evaluator. Then we A/B blind-rated the outputs with three editors who didn't know which model produced what.
- 01Claude's prose has a distinct rhythm. Sentence length varies, metaphors land without being explained, and the writing has a point of view rather than a polite middle. ChatGPT defaults to a competent ghostwriter voice that gets flagged as AI-generated more often than not.
- 02On the cold email task, Claude's draft was 30% shorter and read like a thoughtful note from a busy founder. ChatGPT's draft had two of the three classic 2026 AI tells (em-dashes mid-line, 'I'd love to chat,' a P.S. thanking the recipient).
- 03On translation, Claude swapped English idioms for native Mexican Spanish equivalents on the first pass. ChatGPT translated literally and only fixed it after a follow-up prompt — fine for casual use, embarrassing for a brand launch.
- 04Both produced solid technical writing. The gap narrowed on documentation, code comments, and explainer content, but Claude was still cleaner on tone-matching and audience awareness.
